Maybe TPS?Need help.

My tranny acts up around 45 mph and at 60 mph it drops back and forth about 200 rpms.I think it is the TPS, but any other information on this will help.I have seen quite a few posts like this one and if anyone has gotten it fixed please let me know.

try cleaning your battery cables first then there are 2 gray connectors on the passenger side coming off the alternator that you should check the connections and clean the contacts and put dielectric grease in or eliminate them all together by cutting them off and soldering and heat shrink the splice. i have the same problem with my trans. at 35mph with the torque converter locking and unlocking and i did this and it helped and for the most part went away. try this first you don't want to have to replace a TPS if you don't have to they are $504.00 in a lot of cases it will fix the problem bad grounds and electrical noise can do weird things. also when you have the batteries disconnected you should reset your apps (TPS) do this by
1. set parking break
2. disconnect batts
3. put key in ignition and turning it on and leave it on for at least 30min
4. after 30 or more min turn key off and reconnect batts
5. put key in and turn to on position do not start
6. push the accelerator down SLOWLEY all the way to the floor and release SLOWLEY
7. turn key off
8. release the parking break

It could be the TPS but it is easy to clean the battery terminals first. (It may be electrical noise).

Do a search on cleaning and adjusting TPS. It sounds like TPS is dirty. There is a big write up on this site floating around that will show you how to clean it.

Make sure you check out the voltages of the tps while it's still installed on the truck. All you need is a meter. There is a write up on dodgeram.org on how to do it.

The tps can be cleaned even though it was not designed to be cleaned. Some say it works, some say it don't, some say it only works for a while then needs to be recleaned. You decide. I cleaned mine a year ago and it is fine.

Replacement is around $150. KD

For the 94 they are about 150. For my 97, a little more, but not as pricey as the newer vehicles. The thing that sucks is it's just a potentiometer. They are making love to us with those kinds of prices, but don't really have much of a choice. KD
