LOW PSI / HIGH EGT's ??

What would cause Higher than normal EGT's and Lower than normal boost?

I've checked all fittings & connectors and found no boost leaks.

EGT's rise up QUICK under boost. Higher than normal...even when not under alot of boost. I know I should see a difference with the smaller housing...but I didn't see this dramatic of a difference when I had a friend's 16m2 housing on before.

MAJOR turbo lag when the pedal is smashed.

Only 0-1psi boost while cruising 65-70mph, and 600-degree EGT's (post turbo).

This is a NEW HX-35W and 16cm2-Wastegated Housing on my '92.

With the stock H1C & 18.5cm2 housing it normally would have 5-6psi while cruising at 65-70mph. EGT's would be at a steady 600-degrees. Of course that was before it was destroyed by the blue shop rag that went through it.

I can only get 28psi or so of boost max when I stomp on it...it still doesn't pull hard, but it seems to be running decent.

I pillows out grey and black smoke under throttle.

What should I check? Head, Valves, Pump, Injectors?

Did you check to see if the intercooler was clogged up? That'd be my first step. If so, then I'd say it's time to pull the head and see if anything went into the engine.

Have you pressure checked the connections or just done a visual? The boost doesn't sound that low to me if you have stock injectors.

Yea, I'd be looking for that rag.

I've cleaned the intercooler and found the rag a few weeks ago. It seems as nothing made it through the core. I flushed it out and only rag pieces came out of the inlet side of the IC. The truck sounds great, and runs great...but when you lay into the throttle, it just doesn't have any power.

I have Lucas POD injectors, HX-35W/16cm2, 4" Exhaust, Pump Mods, & AirBox mods.

It's slower than it was when bone stock.

I've removed all the couplings and checked for cracks or holes...nothing. I've double-checked all the connections and sprayed starting fluid on all, with no change in idle. I haven't pressure tested the system yet, but that's because I don't have an air compressor.

Just a wild guess here, try pulling off the intake elbow and looking to see if anything's hung up in the heater grids. It does sound like you still have an air restriction somewhere, I was not aware you had big injectors.

Dave...I've pulled the intake horn and looked around with a flashlight, I can't see anything. I may need to get one of thos elittle mirrors to look in there better.

When this first happened alot of people suggested the valve/valve seals, or piston damage...or possibly pump damage. But It doesn't seem to run bad, it just seems like it's choking.

Did it ever run OK after you put the new turbo on it? Have you checked to make sure the wastegate is OK? No body stuck a potato in your exhaust?

KATOOM...the stock H1C sucked in a rag & was destroyed. I installed the HX35/16 and it ran like junk, then i cleaned the intercooler and found the rag...so it runs better....

the wastegate is fixed shut....and it'd have to be BIG potato to plug up my pipe
