Loud ticking noise

i have loud ticking noise coming from top of engine need help have removed vavle cover looks ok

Check the valve clearance, if 24 valve make sure valve bridge didn't come off. Also cap on end of rocker arm will sometimes fall off. You can run engine with valve cover off to listen for location of noise better. Good Luck

You NEED to check your valve lash. Looking at the will not help you. How many miles are on your rig?

All valves lashed good found no problem there whats next

Go buy a $10 automotive stethoscope and pinpoint where the tick is coming from.
Also helps to know the truck's year and tranny.

It is a 1999 auto with 95000 miles, Used stethoscope and narrowed the noise to the area around #2 and 3 cylinders near injecter line nuts, No miss, Today loosened injecter lines and could hear sound change when #2 loosened may be injecter

Think I have found my problem #4 injecter when line loosened killed cylinder and noise went away have set of 60 hp's on the way thanks for the ideas
