Fill out your sig under user cp so we know what kinda truck and mods you have so we can help better.

How often is the clicking? How close together time wise is the clicking? Does it always click? Or just when cold or hot?

Just started a few days ago pulling my camper back up the mountians home to West Virigina after a week on a camping trip. It started about 100 miles from home and got steadly worse and is steady hot or cold and is loud enough to hear clear over the normal rattle of the cummins and seams to to be about like a cylinder revolution

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
It took a licking and now it's ticking!!! has blowby increased?? Is it losing oil??
Is it smoking more than normal?? A bad injector will make noise, and generally smokes somewhere in operating range. A broken ring will make a noise and have some extra blowby. A rod will tick intially and get worse rather quickly. Oil pressure test may not be conclusive till to late. Could hav eoil analysis done for some assistance.

I had a tick I couldnt find for ever. It ended up being loose exhaust manifold bolts.

If cracking #4

Quiets the noise, its probably a piston or connecting rod issue.

I had a similar noise (maybe) a slow but loud sharp tick, the best description I can think of is it sounded like a mechanical fuel pump tick. anyways I did an oil change (rotella 15w40) and it fixed it up. the noise did redevelop after 6000km another oil change a bottle of lucas diesel treatment through a couple of tanks and gone again I have NO idea what it was. It hasn't been back since
