Oily mess on top of intake cover

After removing and replacing my high pressure fuel lines and intake manifold and intake cover plate (new gasket), even on short trips now there is a nasty leak somewhere and it is enough to make a significant puddle under the truck.

I thought maybe it was the fuel line to head connections just needing snugged, which might leak diesel, but the liquid doesn't smell strong enough to be diesel fuel. I think it is oil, but I"m not sure where it is coming from.

I think I ruled out the breather box at the front, because the mess doesn't start until just underneath the cylinder #1 fuel line inlet.

Has anyone else had this experience after replacing fuel lines and intake? What can I do to get this leak stopped?

Thanks in advance

I would clean the engine to the best I can with degreaser, then drive a short distance and look for the place it leaks.

Thanks Paul. I found the leak. It was 1 or more of the injector connections on the head. The weird thing is, I thought it was oil, not diesel, because of the consistency and smell.

Anyway, the leak is gone now.
