Do you know of any aftermarket boots that would be better than the stock ones?
The boots from http://www.piersdiesel.com/ are great. The whole set will cost you less than one boot at the dealer or you can buy just one. The one you found off by far is the one that gives the most problems.

The oil film on your impeller blades was probably from your air filter.

With the mods I have in my sig and nearing 90k on the clock how worried should i be about having a boot blow off. I know the one on the bottom of the passenger side is covered in grease and probably getting ate away. but the other or should i replace the problem one and go from there. If one was to buy just one from peirs would you also get the clamp also?

XLR8R, you're probably right. The previous owner had cleaned and oiled it prior to selling and I think he may have been a bit overzealous in oiling the filter. After looking closer I noticed that the oil on the impeller wasnt the same as my motor oil.
