Lost prime? out of no where
Lost prime? out of no where
This morning , i get in the truck, fires up as normal, back out of the drive way, and it starts sputtering, then dies, even as i feather the pedal.
A few minutes spent cranking, nothing will happen. So on a hunch, i crack the bleeder and manually pump .
Tons of bubbles, then finally after about 25 pumps, I have a solid stram of fuel.
Truck fires up, after a minute og rough idling its fine, i mkae the 45 mile drive to work.
Naturally my question is, why would it loose prime, and get air into the lines?
truck sat since friday, had over half a tank. This has never happened before.
So wheres the most common place to start my search?
Can air be getting in back at the pump? at the injection pump?
any flexible hoses that are a common weak point?
thanks guys

Probably have a tired and cracked fuel return line next to the block above the starter. This happens when the trucks are about 4 to 6 years old.
edit . . .Smokee types faster than I do.
Here is some info from Dave Fritz' page.

Low fuel economy and/or fuel leakage:
--Fuel return hose behind the fuel filter has a reputation for failure and leakage
--Reported by several people including myself! Rams over 3 years old: beware!
--Regular fuel hose has a short life, use fuel injection line.
--Metal low pressure return line from the overflow valve cracked.

OK, after lunch, I went out to the parking lot, small drip under the engine seems to have sprung.
Well, I suppose Ill have to start the search for where the air has gotten in, thanks for teh help guys,
Ill be covered in fuel tonight , checking rubber lines
