losing engine power
I have a 2001 Dodge Diesel 2500 pickup Automatic. Every once in awhile it will lose power if i let up on the gas and hit it again it will come back. I was told it was the fuel pump so replaced that it still did the same thing, then I replaced the thottle position sensor, still having same problem. I was told it may be the Injector pump, It has never had any problem starting. I have had it to 2 diesel machanics and they cant seem to fix it. I haul a 28 ft 5th wheel and would like to know if it is the injector pump before leaving home. Can anyone tell me how to check to see if its the injector pump before spending $1800.00 I have already put out $900.00 and its not fixed. Thanks for everyones help. Cecil Osborn Dallas Ft Worth Area

Has anyone scanned it for codes? I think you can do the key on/off thing and it will show the codes. Try that instead of throwing parts at it. That gets too expensive.

Sounds like the IP is starting to show signs of death. Mine started with the same symptoms and gradually got worse to the point i had to replace it. I picked mine up for $1160.00 that included tax and the return of the core. Go to http://www.bluechipdiesel.com/inject...pfailures.html that will explain why the VP44 goes to the bad.

APPS Reset
I have a standard so if not do you place it is gear also???
Leave it in gear
No clutch
turn key to on, slowly cycle throttle to full and then back again.
Leave off for a few seconds
Do this three times
Leave off for several minutes.
Then start as normal.
AND hope
THis should work
Mine has a bad volotage problem.
Just have to convince CUmmins to help.
