loosing power
I have a 2500 24 valve 4x4 . It runs great in town and around town but as soon as you get on the interstate or something close to it seems like it looses power and you have to keep shifting from 4 to 5 to keep speed up you can just watch the RPM's drop and can feel it kick out . When Iam pulling a trailer it is really bad. I ran codes and P1693 and P0216 come up. If this is the injection pump please tell me were to find info on how to replace or what I should do thanks
ok after I wrote this I did some more searching BOY po216 is a lucky numer on here! Anyway I still have a question how do you know if the injection pump is dead or dying or if the lift pump is just going out?

My truck felt like it was loosing power when my VP was dying. It also became very hard to start when it was hot out and sometimes died when shifted from park into drive.

Thats the thing it runs good no problems at all starting idoling nothing just loosing power when driving sometimes and you have to shift 4th and 5 th gear to keep speed and rpms up no engine lights or nothing are on.. Thats why I was kinda wondering if it could maybe ..maybe (cross my fingers ) be just the lift pump

What year is your truck (may help us assist in the diagnosis)...?
Sounds like the VP, do you have a fuel pressure gauge...yet? (I say "yet" as this is an inevitability on the 2nd gen trucks!) Sounds like your VP may be toast, if you're getting good / consistent pressure to it and it is still intermittent...hope it's something else, but that's NOT an uncommon problem with the 2nd gens!
