Does anyone know how to get the lighter socket out without removing the dashboard? Any info would help.
Thanks

Remove the istrument bezel. It's easy. On mine it's a removal of ash tray and cup holder , lower tilt wheel and unsnap the bezel. It has a series of tabs all around, just be careful with the tabs so they don't break, should come right off giving you access to the back of lighter socket.

On a 99, it's even easier to remove the trim bezel. I think there's 1 screw then it just unsnaps.

I replaced mine not too long ago. Wal-Mart sells a new replacement that comes with a tool to hook into the housing so you can just pull it out of the dash. The replacement was an exact replacement with the correct plug to match up with the harness. Anyway, the housing just pulls out with a good tug.

I took the dash out of the 97 1500 i have for sale and the 94 diesel . mine was the same as above, cup holder and ash tray 4 screws then pops off rather easily. I did get a little hasty and broke off 1 of the plastic guides putting it back on , but it didnt affect the clips and is still snug as new. Unlike them door panels wowzer new clips on those or they dont work.
