Well, Just an FYI for those who may need to search this info later.....

O'Reilly pulled the pump for me under Carter # P74213....

And I think that the reason they fail after taking the old one apart could be 1 of 2 items.

Disassembly (inquiring minds have to know) revealed that the 3 studs which hold the top plate of the fuel pump seemed to have one of which, which did not seem to be torqued down any longer. It was on the suction side of the pump which may allow them to suck in air and thus drop in pressure. I also noticed that the vanes of the pump had a small amount of varnish looking substance built up on the outer part of the wear surface where they slide back and forth while sliding in their vane action. A very light polishing action with a paper towel seemed to remove this so it may not be a factor. There is a trash screen inside as well, but mine was free of any build-up of any trash or gunk so the filter changing at regular intervals must have come into play there.

Any one else looked at the inside of their lift pump after replacement, please chide in into your findings.
