It just quit
My 1999 Dodge 5.9 just quit on me. After going only 2 miles this morning on a low fuel tank. I had it towed back home and have attempted the following tests. The block mounted lift pump still makes noise after tapping the ignition and I have fuel at the filter after the key is off. I loosened the number 1 and 3 injectors and very little fuel came out. Can anyone give me any other advice before I take it somewhere.

You need to put a pressure gage on the filter housing. the port toward the front of the motor is the port after the filter. this will give you the real fuel pressure after the filter. You should see 14 or so if the filter is good. less than 5 replace the lift pump. You can put together a test gae at the auto parts store.
Next I make sure the grounds are good right from the batteries.
Make sure the batteries are good. Low batteries can cause miss or no start.
Does it crank fast enough.??
Is it cold there??
Check to see that the grid heaters are working.
Have the codes scanned. If you see a 0216, 1688,1689 the IP is probably dead.
a 0236 (?) is the crank position sensor. This will stop you dead in your tracks.
If you ran low on fuel, it can be hard to start. You need to put at least 10 gallons in. Open lines 1,3,4 and crank. Try to crank for no mor than 10-15 sec then let the starter cool off.
Check the relay box and make sure the relays are working.
Try to do the easy stuff first.
I really suspect the IP from the sudden quit but we really need more info.
