Intemmitent No Start

Dads 97 has just recently started acting up. He told me that lately sometimes in the morning, but not that often, the truck won't want to start on the first crank. Also, if he drives it and gets it warmed up then shuts it off to go in somwhere it won't start sometimes until the third try. After it sits long enough and cools back off though it usually starts on the first try.
I'm guessing the lift/p-pump is going out but wanted to get some ideas from you guys. If thats what you think it is, where is the best place to get a new one?
Thanks for any help
Nick

I would check the fuel pressure before you change the pump. You could have just a small air leak and its taking some time for the pump to pump diesel back up.

Make sure the run solenoid is lifting up when cranking engine. Could have a bad relay located rear of engine center of cowl. You should be able to see solenoid lift up lever on injection. Three wires to solenoid, run, start and ground. Check them with test light.
