help with warranty
I need some help with a buddies truck. It is a 2002 with 80,000 miles on it. The vp44 is dead can we get it changed on warranty? The dealership told him that the warranty was gone but I thought I had heard about the cummins engine has an added warranty that starts after the standard warranty is gone. Any thing will help.
that's right, read the warranty book
The warranty manual states that only the info printed in it is to be used.
That being said, it goes on to state that the Cummins warranty starts at the end of the 36k mile factory warranty. Check it out in your manual.

I imagine you will have to call Chrysler on this one. I can promise you that at the dealer level when they run the VIN, the warranty will come back as expired (time) on the 14. When it's a warranty issue this is what is done to verify the dealer is going to be paid for the repair by Chrysler. Either way....good luck.
Don't know about on the 02 but on my first 04.5 and now the 07 warranty is 5 years under 100k no deductable, over 5 but up to 7 years $100 deductable but again under 100k miles. You are probably pushing the 7 year mark quite close so finding out the in service date should clarify it for you and that will require the Chrysler dealer to check on their computer.

I would check out this thread.....http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...-you-ride.html It is a lot of reading but several people have gotten Chrysler to pay!
Its a long haul man, I fought with my local Dodge dealer and threathened legal action after a few months, wrote the bbb, which magically got closed. The dealership is against you man, know it walking in there.
I ended up replacing mine for 1300 dollars, isnt too bad. The dodge dealer here quoted me 2100$ for the VP and 600$ labor.
