WOW! Almost $1k for a new lift pump?!? An aftermarket is mid-$100's (I think), and the FASS or Walbro is $400-$600, installation is pretty easy....

 

Well, if you have any mechanical inclination do it yourself. Even if you don't, it's pretty simple and you can get all your questions answered here for free! If funding is your concern you can get a cummins pump for about $64 you just need to call the part number in to confirm the price 'cause some will question what it's going on and the price will be 2 1/2 times higher if you have the wrong answer. You can purchase a big line fuel kit for $125. This includes the hose fittings, etc for everything to replace the banjo fittings (which are restrictions). You can mount the new pump back in front of the fuel tank, install the new lines in probably 3-4 hours most. Or you can get a different brand pump and do the same thing, the only difference is increased cost and (hopefully) increased reliability.

I'd say get out of your comfort zone and get after it!! You'll also feel better after you've accomplished it yourself.

 

you probley had the 0216 (IP code that he spoke of) also. there is a good chance that you will be replacing your IP (vp44) real soon also (could be 1 week, could be 1 year), and that dealer will ask you 2000-2500 to do that job, so I would be learning how to work on the fuel system on this truck, or find me someone that won't over charge you for the work. I would find me a OEM lift pump (ebay or cummins) or a after market pump (fass, walbro, holley blue, or some thing like) and save some $$ for a new vp44
