Help......Rear Differential torque?

Help......Rear Differential torque?

Anyone know the torque on the rear differential cover on a 1996 2500 4x4? My book says 35 lbs. but i rear lots of guys doing 18 lbs?

I think it is 35 "inch" pounds, I would go with the book. I had to buy a inch pound wrench and worked like a charm when I changed my fluids last month.

I've go 30 ft lbs for a 11.5 AAM.

my experience tells me to tighten cover bolts in manner consistent with good workmanship
