Help me stuck on side of road

I have a 2001 Dodge diesel 5.9 Diesel I'm stuck on the side of the road I have a 38 ft toy hauler on pulling with it it lost all the power and surging really bad making the truck jump up and down and trying to get the trailer off the road seems to run fine when I'm sitting but I took it for a ride in about 30 minutes later I noticed a slight surge what can I do to fix that or what can I do to look for my problem I'm in dire need for help

2001 is electric and you need to just bump the starter and pump will turn on if working and run for 45 seconds. If you never replaced fuel pump that is most likely your problem. Pump is located just below the fuel filter housing. If you are near auto parts store you can try replacement pump, fuel filter and air filter. Try pulling filter and bump starter so pump will turn on then see if you get fuel flow to the filter.

the pump is located behind and below the fuel filter housing.

Did you ever find out what was wrong? I'm having very similar symptoms with my truck.

And did you also try the first piece of advice for this?

Change the fuel filter first. It's cheap and easy, and eliminates a common cause.
