Help installing clutch as i type.

I am installing a DD clutch right now can cannot get the first plate off the flywheel right after the disk.

Is there a trick to this?

Sounds like you have the dual mass flywheel and need to remove the flywheel from the stub flywheel that connects to the crankshaft.
You have to remove the transmission adapter cover plate which is located on the turbo side of the flywheel housing and remove the bolts similar to the way a torque converter bolts to a flexplate from the inside.
