HELP:code P1690, truck running rough

HELP!! I fired my truck up to head home and right after it cranked it started running real rough like it was missing and the engine light also came on. I left and as I was going down the highway it started surging, it almost felt like the trasmission was slipping because power would seem to stop and the motor would seem to rev. I checked the codes and it pulled up P1690. I looked it up but I dont understand it. The truck is stock except for straight exhaust. Would the straight exhaust void the warranty? Should I go ahead and take the truck in to get looked at? Any help would be appreciated.

It might be a bad crank position sensor.

Same problem , but no OD or Cruise

1998 1/2 OBDII Read the P1690 and and the P0336,also read the P0720 for the speed position sensor in the tranny and the P1689, P1693 codes.
Changed the Crankshaft Position sensor, The Speed sensor in the tranny. Let me back up a minute. I had lock in lock out for awhile on the tranny , OD and cruise always worked, Changed TPS , did'nt help. thats when read codes. Anyway now my rpms are steady, lost Overdrive and cruise ,but trannny and engine run well otherwise. When I read code now , and drive for awile couple days, P1690, P0336 come back ......... Crankshaft Sensor?
Again.

1998 1/2 24 valve automatic, and taking off work to fix this puppy. When I first changed the crank sensor evrything was great for one day then the ovwerdrive went out, thought I had it.

I'm going back to the good ole 12 valve, anyone need a cheap truck?

For Dubard,, The crank sensor seemed to smooth the problem out , I had 8 codes now I have three. P1693, P1690, P03660.
It just didn't figure , I thought it woud have been the P0720.
Cause all I needed was OD back. IF you gcasn get help for your
1690 code , I'll be watching. My first post so thanks for the patience.

Red face code P1690

Say Dubard, I found the code source ,I'm getting same one and makes sense.

P1690...... Fuel Injection Pump CKP sensor does not agree with ECM CKP sensor

I changed my CKP sensor then got these codes: P1693 and then two times P1690

I'll post again maybe we can get some help?

I called the Dodge dealer today and talked to the diesel mechanic and he said it is not the crank position sensor since my tach is working the way it should. He also said my truck does not have a cam position sensor. He said the problem sounds like one of the fuel pumps is starting to go out. I am going to take it in the next day or two to get the fuel pressures read. Also, the truck still idles rough and surges but it has not thrown on the engine light or any more codes.
