P1690 code

Got a check engine lite over the weekend. Was towing the trailer.Felt like it was down on power then clear up,comes and goes.Scanned it and has a 1690 code.Any ideas what will set this? Will the lift pump going out set this?Have to check the fuel pressure yet. Will a speed sensor cause this code. The truck has had a problem with the cruize staying set sense i got it couple months ago.Dont know if this is related to the code setting.Cruize Will set then loose it,reset and will work then loose it again.Didn't see a speed sensor code.Just looking for some imput from you guys.Trucks a 01 H.O.6spd.Had a 91,have to learn this one.Thanks........Tim

Replace the cam position sensor. Geno's or Cummins have them. It is kind of a pain to get at, behind the VP44. I don't believe the 2001 has a crank position sensor. I had one go out on my 2002. Eventually started throwing 0216 code. Luckily at that time was covered by warranty.
