No start park

Hi all,

After truck sits for while wont start. Sounds just like dead battery, just click.

Move the shift lever to neutral, back to park, fires right up.

Bad neutral safety switch I'm thinkin, might be called something else, but sounds right.

Messed with anything around its location lately?

My 99 did something similar about 3 weeks ago except I had hot batteries and the engine spun over real good but no fire. two hours later went out and for kicks turned key on, shifted to neutral or drive then back to park. Hit start and it fired right up as normal. Only happened that one time. We had been having a lot of damp rainy weather down here in East Texas and I'm thinking it has caused a whole mess of electrical issues with the truck. I am posting a novel on my TC lockup issue in a new topic. Going to go cry now. :-(

It's damp up here 9/12....did you dip it or go through deeper puddles?

If you have success after moving the shifter, I'm thinkin a switch is bad.

Thank you for the reply and help SIXSLUG. Haven't been dipping it and I stay out of water where I can't see the road. On the no start, can a bad switch let the engine spin over but not fire??? I'm wondering also what role the PCM plays, if any, in the ignition system because I posted in another topic about my TC lockup issue. I'm going to disconnect the leads and flush them with contact cleaner and see if that solves the problem.
Thanks again for your help, Frank
