12 hours from home in Taylor Park CO, truck won't start.
Hi guys,I am on vacation in Taylor Park, CO (between Gunnison & Buena Vista near the top of the Rockies) just got here Saturday from Wichita, KS.
I have an 07 Dodge 2500 with the 5.9 and a six speed manual. Have put about 10k problem free miles on it in the last year. Last weekend I changed the oil and replaced the fuel filter. Truck ran perfect all last week.*We left Wichita Saturday morning and drove straight through to Salida, CO before ever turning off the engine. After stopping for about 45 minutes in Salida I tried to start the engine. It cranked just as it normally would but the engine never sounded like it was firing at all. I looked under the hood for obvious issues and saw nothing unusual. I tried once again to start it. Nothing. This time I pushed the accelerator pedal down some while I was cranking the engine over. It started to sound like it may start. As I held the pedal to the floor it fired up, didn't blow any smoke and ran perfect. We then drove the 50 or so miles up the mountain to our destination.*
After arriving here I waited about 20 minutes and tried to start it. It did the same thing. No start without pushing accelerator pedal down. Tried it this morning after opening the water drain valve for a bit and still no start.Kind of thinking air in the lines possibly. Each time I try to start it I do cycle the ingition on/off several times.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!__________________

This will sound stupid but check your oil. If you have an injector/injector line issue at the injector a single malfunctioning injector may produce symptoms similar to what you are describing. If you are leaking fuel at the injector the oil level will go up and you'll most likely be able to smell the diesel on the dipstick, if it really bad.

Could be a number of things. From weak batteries to injector tubes leaking or limiting valve leaking. Cranking fuel pressure at rail could be low. Fuel injectors won't even turn on until the PCM receives signal from fuel pressure sensor of 3000 psi at the rail. Try parking on incline or hill put in second gear key on then pop the clutch, if it starts right up then most likely fuel pressure is too low at the rail when cranking. Injector or HPC tubes leaking.
