Help ! A/C not working

Hey guys, I need help quick!

I'm midway on an 8 hour trip, and was on my way when I turned on the a/c and found nothing but room temp. The hot air comes on, the fan runs with the a/c turned to the on position. just no cold air coming out.

I lifted the hood, and found the a/c lines cold, and dripping wet.

Let me know what you think. I'm leaving in a couple of hours.

thanx

Try turning the system on to defrost with the temperature cranked down to icecicle. If you get cold air out up there, it could be the selector switch has gone south. While hood was up could you tell if compressor was short cycling (on/off rapidly). If so then you could be a smidge low on refrigerant and the compressor is not running long enough (pressure switch cut/out) to allow refrigerant to condense back to a liquid.

Good Luck,

Gary

The Dodges also stick the air mix door in the heater plenum. You have to dig under the dash and right side to get to it to work it free and check the vacuum actuator that opens the door properly. Just disconnect the batteries and let them set a minute before you do so, you do not want to accidentally trip the air bag by banging around down there and arcing a sensor.

had the same problem, turn on the air conditioner and nothing, cold air would only come out of the defroster vents on the dash, found out the selector switch was bad, put a new one in and it now works....

Might be low on refrigerant too.

Mine does the same thing. I turn the AC off for a few minutes and the frost which builds up in the evaporater melts and everything is wonderful again.... till it freezes up again. My cue was the fact that you said you were on a long trip. Hope this works for you.
