help: broken/ stuck timing pin
anyone know the best way to pull my timing pin after I've done all I can to destroy it? The allen heads seem to be 1/8", but there's very little room to unscrew them. I can't get plyers on it to just pull it out since I broke it off almost flush. Anyone ever done this before? '95 4x4 cummins ats stage iv, tc commander,
That sucker's pretty hard to get to, so I can't say a great way to do it. I will tell you that it is plastic, and is only held in place by an o-ring. Is there enough up there to get some vise-grips on? Use some pentrating oil on it before-hand and hopefully you can pry between the timing case the the vise-grips to pry it out.
The way I did it was to hold a 5/16 open-end on the pin shaft, from above, while Tim pryed on the wrench from below. That finally popped it out.
