Help ASAP....How does this sound??

I had a problem that had to have my truck towed to the nearest dealer. Long story and if someone wants it, its worth hearing....Anyway....One of the fix's to get the truck back on the road was what the service lady called the "gearbox", I asked her if she meant the tranny and she said no, I said the transfercase and she said yeah. So what ever, insurance is covering it. but then I tell her that I had a powersteering leak up at the front of the truck. She tells me that the tech said he fixed by replacing the "gearbox" and I said no way, it was powersteering fluid cause I had to fill the resevoir a couple times. So I told her to tell the tech that. She calls me back in a little bit and says "the tech says the "gearbox" was going to fix the problem". So I ask her if my powersteering fluid runs through my transfercase, and she says " I guess so". I told her it was the craziest thing I've ever heard.
Is she right or do you think what she was calling the "gearbox" was really my steering box I'm stumped. If someone could get back to me ASAP, I'm supposed to pick up the truck tomorrow. "kidkartdad2@yahoo.com"
Thanks

It would help to know some details about your truck. Fill in your signature so we know what your driving. Also a little more background info on the problems that led to taking it to the dealer would help.

It is possible they are refering to the steering gear as the "gearbox", could also be the standard trans or T/case if its 4wd. But if its leaking p/s fluid more than likely they repaired the steering gear.

don't talk to the service lady. talk with the tech. powersteering fluid does not flow to or through you transmission or transfercase. separate systems, at least on every truck i've ever seen. it would seem that when they say "gearbox" they are refering to the power steering gearbox. most people, that i know of anyway, do not refer to the tranny or tranfer case as "gearbox". hope that helps

LMAO!!!

I can just picture you two at the counter talking back and forth..hehe

It would be the steering box that they would be replacing.
