Help!

So driving Home from Thanksgiving vacation, tachometer goes to 0, then back up. Check engine light on. Keep driving, shut it off a few times, start it, Check engine light goes off but down the road a ways the tach does the same thing. Truck seems to run just fine, got me home the rest of the 150 miles it had to. Did have a "Burp" a couple times cruising at about 60 MPH. I'm hoping it is a sensor going haywire, Seems to have good fuel pressure, I stopped and checked all the connections in the engine bay I could find. Anyone have any Ideas?

Not sure if it would be related or not, but the Oil pressure sending unit went out about two weeks ago, but haven't had a problem since I put the new one in.

Thanks for any help!

Nick.

Yeah, battery connections are clean. I don't have a scanner, so I am going to slip down to Napa first thing and see if I can pick one up. From everything I have been reading it is either the crank or Cam sensor, or at least it sounds like it. Thanks for the help guys.

Pulled codes, 0336- crankshaft pos. sensor, and 1690 not in the list? Any ideas? I'm guessing it is a code as a result of the failing sensor. I'm going to get the sensor changed and see what happens.

I kept changing sensors on mine when I had the same symptoms. It ended up being a wire rubbing across the back of the motor. The engine rattle wore a hole in a wire and threw codes for different sensors.
