heater fan not working

The fan has been working intermittently, when i turn it on it won't run, but when i hit a bump the fan sometimes works. It also will run after driving for a while. The fuse is ok, but is there a breaker some where or a resistor board, or maybe fan is seizing up?. Any info on system work be much appreciated.
Thanks

That usually a sign that the brushes are worn down in the fan motor .

Well I checked the motor and took it out, and tried to operate it and no go. So checked steering column and found burnt wire at ignition harness connector, took out and checked it out, taped for now to fix, and plan to add heavier wire to connector. Too bad a relay didn't carry more current instead of current setup. Thanks to the forums for advice and info

That was what I was going to say...

Several threads on burned connector at ignition switch.

Anyhow, keyed power goes fron ignition switch to fan motor. Speed control is on the ground side. Resister block is right next to the fan.

burnt wire could also be due to fan motor going out causing excessive amp draw on circuit.
