As the title says I have the return line tick in my 96.
I've had it for a while!! This tick is way louder than the infamous return line tick.

The last 2 days the ticking has gotten getting very loud.
It sounds like a mini jake brake in action.
Either at idle it knocks pretty loud or when letting off the throttle after going 45-55mph is the most noticeable.

Is the lift pump finally on its way out? or ?

It's probably the spring in the lift pump has gotten weak and the actuator arm is slapping against the cam.
Take care of it soon as it can damage the cam.

also, i called a cummins shop and they said it could also be a delivery valve going bad? Is that even possible?
