Guage help

SAturday when I parked her she was running and acting fine. Sunday I go out start her up, She stumbled at idle a few times, Check engine light came on, Oil pressure showed higher than normal, and the tach wasnt registering! I killed it. checked oil, and the trouble codes. Codes showed only P1693. I know i'm due for a oil and fuel filter change, as well as ther fan belt is starting to show it's age. Usually the oil guage shows high for a minute or two then drops to the normal range, but not this time. Also a minute or so later the engine stumbled, then the tach started registering. It's a 2000 model, with a K&N, and and Edge adjustable box. Other than that the 5" stacks are all Ive done to it. Any help would be appreciated. I had to replace the lift pump about a year ago, and she's just pushin 90K on the odometer. Thanks

If it is the CPS there are some other items (in addition to the tach) that won't work like the A/C and the charging system.

Yeah the A/C works, and the charging system seems to be working fine. I figure I'll disconnect the batteries and see if it pops up again. If so I guess I'll take it to the parts store and hav'em give me a readout. Any idea what a crank sensor would cost to replace if that was the culprit? Thanks.

Now it is having some starting problems as well. It will sit and sputter while cranking, but after a few tries it will start just fine. Then the tach comes on and off intermitently. When the tach is not registering, the engine seems to run a little rough, with a slight vibration. Any Ideas. I plan on taking it to the shop on monday, unless someone might know what could be wrong. Thanks.

Crank Sensor

I have an appointment at 11:30 tomorrow to get a Crank Sensor in my 1999 CTD at the Dodge Dealer. They quote $71 for the sensor and ~1.3hours labor so about $140. Total will be about ~$211 +tax.

Well the scanner showed a bad crank sensor. So $65 bucks at the dodge house. Gonna replace it today, and hope for the best.

Well that sensor fixed the problem, but it was a butt to replace. Pull the starter, then the sensor was seized in the block. Had to drill a hole, then screwed a tap in the hole. Still wouldnt pry out. Ended up chipping the whole thing out with a screwdriver. Hooked the batteries back up and started it, no more dummy light!!!!!!! YaY. Thanks
