John - 03 and up front axle turns all the time no vacuum. in and out of 4x4 is only via tcase.

 

If it is the hub when it fails more than likely your brake warring lights will come on because the sencer gets destroyed. Just happen to me last night up here in cold Edmonton Canada. The Only warring was a scrapping noise 1 or 2 mins before then lots of grinding then the warring lights went off. Pulled apart and you could see fresh metal filing on the back side of hub.

 

update "t cases are backordered" ***. truck still not fixed. soon enough i will have snow to plow. (been lucky so far). is this because they are not paying their part suppliers or something? shouldn't there be parts to keep these trucks running? another truck at dealer need the 4x4 motor on his 1500 and the truck has been laid up for over 1.5 mos. what gives?

 

Have you tried looking through some junk yards for wreck trucks that might still have the tcase in them? just an option.

 

i have not done so. my truck is tore apart and i am sure they wont let me do such a thing. i hate dealing with dodge and their service depts. i am sure the big three are all the same but every time i have a prob it seems to take a month to rectify. there seems to be a huge shortage of parts or they are building them as they are needed.
