GEN light?? TACH bouncing all over?? and trans??
Feel the relay ( or better yet, unhook them ) on the pass. side fender when it happens. You will feel them click if they are turning on. Other than that, the diodes may be going out on the alt causing dome funky voltage to the computer as well. Take it in to a reputable shop and have them test it. You can test yourself IIRC with a DVOM and look for AC voltage from the case to the big red wire on the back of the alt. Again IIRC!
just took the alt in and it checked out good. i took the sensor off the dampner and the red wire on it had a slit in it and u could see the wires. and also the red wire between that slit and hte sensor it was pinched pretty good. the slit was probably about an inch to inch and a half up from the sensor. hopefully this was my problem.
changed out the ESS and so far the tach and OD hasn't acted up.
but there is still a flicker in the whole lighting system at all times. they will all flicker everytime u hit the brake pedal it never fails.
so there must be something with the brake wiring. any help???
thanks

any ideas on the whole lightin system flickering???? also i have my scan tool hooked up to this truck n the volts gauge goes all over the place. 12.6-15.8 it just jumps all over n so does the TPS one only when i am cruising at the same speed. also i have noticed in this truck that at idle the TPS sits at 6. my other 97 sits at 23 at idle.
