Question Fuse for dimmer switch

Just installed my gauge cluster and I cannot find which fuse is for the dimmer switch/headlights. Do I tap it into the fuse box or do I splice it into a wire run??? if so which wire. I read a large blue wire but i dont see a large blue wire

Use a test light on the wires going/leaving the dimmer selector and see which one responds to the switch. Depending on what gauges you have (Autometer Cobalts use LED lights) this might not be enough to dim the lights to match you panel lights. You can use a resistor on each gauge to make them match your panel. Start out with a 1K ohm 1/4 watt resistor (real cheap at Radio Shack) on each gauge and see if it is what you want. If it dont respond how you like go up or down on the resistance to your preferance.

Or you can buy a dimmer from Autometer. The model # is 9114.

its the ISSPRO gauges, so just regular lights. I did a search and someone said to stick it on the illumanant fuse, but they stay on all the time. I think I am just going to get a **** variable resistor and install my own switch.

There is a fuse slot in the fuse panel located on the left side of the dash that powers the instrument gauges. I don't know which one it is on your truck as you have a newer model - but it will be labeled on the back of the fuse panel cover.

I powered my gauges off of this fuse block by running the wires from the gauges into the back of the fuse panel (by removing the kick panel below the steering wheel) and then by tapping into the instrument gauges using an "add a fuse" that I purchased at Pep Boys. The A-Pillar gauges dim with the main instrument lights. Hope this helps.

Here's a pic of where to tap into on the back of the headlight switch on a 04. This is from a guy on another forum. I can't access it right now for some reason. I just had the pic saved. I need to double check that it's the diimer wire and will dim, and not just stay bright. I'll keep trying to get on the other forum.
