Fuel lines cracking ??

My buddies dad has a 2001 3500 and is having issues with his fuel lines cracking near the injectors. Has anyone experienced this and if so what was the cause. The truck is used daily for work towing. It has almost 200K miles. Cummins told him that they have not heard of this problem. Any info would be great. It has happened 3 times and I know it is costing him about 400 bucks to replace the fuel lines. Thank you. YnotTurbo

Two things come to mind.... If they are cracking near the injectors they may have been overtightened at one time or another. Another thing that is very important is to compare his lines to another truck (or two) and make sure ALL the line clamps are in place. They can loosen with age and fall off and leave the line prone to more vibration.

They sometimes crack when people switch injectors and don't follow the proper procedure and totally remove the lines but rather bend them out of the way.
