Fuel leak while running

In the last few days i've noticed a fuel leak coming from above my front differential after i turn off the truck, it stops leaking shorting after so obviously its only leaking while the truck is running. Tonight when i got home it was leaking a lot more than normal, i have quite a large puddle under the truck on the asphault I'll have to go look at it tomorrow, I just had a new injectionpump/lift pump installed about 6 weeks ago, The truck still runs fine still smokes etc, So is it a line i should check? or what do you guys think the problem is? never encounted this problem before

Truck is a 99 4X4 Ram TD 24v
truck does have injectors/Edge Comp/and i unplugged the MAP sensor a few days ago, actually started leaking about a day after this, not sure if its related, i'll plug it back in tomorrow see if the leak continues also try to see where its coming from, thanks for the help.

well when i got home tonight it was running alittle rough, but i figured it was beacuse of the map sensor, beacuse i've heard of some people having problems and others don't, but maybe it was because of hte fuel issue, i'ill have ot look at the lines tomorrow if i can see them.

Have you drained/changed your fuel filter recently? The drain valve on mine was leaking several months ago (about the same spot you describe) and it drove me nuts trying to find the leak. I purchased a new valve from the dealer and saved my original to rebuild (new O-rings) in case I ever have the problem again. May not be your answer as you just had pump work done, but keep an eye on the drain line.

Good luck.

I had my entire fuelpump/ filter system replaced about 6 weeks ago, so i'm sure they did it, but i'm thinking maybe a line wasn't tightened all the way, i'm not too sure though, all i know is its leaking a whole lot! and with fuel prices its depressing seeing all that #2 on the ground

Don't know if the 99's still have the rubber fuel line that runs behind the filter next to the block , but that is a weak spot . It dries out from the heat and developes cracks . With the work you had done it could have gotten disturbed and opened up something.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help, i fixed the leak, only took about 20 minutes to find it, figured i'd run the truck and then see if i can see where it was coming from, sure enough out of the injection pump a lot of fuel was spraying straight back, the leak was coming from the lowest fuel line most near the engine going into the back of the pump, the nut holding it on wasn't even finger tight, i could move it with my hand, so I tightened that up and no leak but I'm kinda skeptical to take my truck back to these people, and i don't nkow any other diesel repair place around here that i could trust, since these guys can't even tighten bolts right, but o well leak is fixed i can drive tomorrow to work.

Found and fixed, good to hear. It would be very human to overlook or forget to tighten that fuel line up. Maybe the mech got interupted and it slipped his mind.

I second that . You should bring it back and see what their reaction is , if it's opoligetic you may want to consider them in the future , if you get a song and dance , find somebody else .

There's no excuse for a professional to make a mistake like that, but nobody's perfect, so definitely tell them about it and see what they say - if they act like it's no big deal, then I'd shake their dust off my shoes and never return!

After all, you're paying them NOT to make those kinds of mistakes... you can do that yourself for free, right?
