Depends on which year your truck is, the drain has been changed at least four times, maybe more.

mine just flips down i think ...it goes the same way as the drain line.. the drain tube is ran a ways threw the engine compartment and it takes a while for it to start comming out
if you still dont get any thing open the fuel filter canister and see if it'll flow then . this is on an '02

filter drain

Seems to me it should just flow when ever I open the drain valve, but I ve never gotten anything out of it. And being an old plumber I am used to seeing valves handles align with the direction of flow but this doesn't make sense.

That will get it flowing for sure.

Gotta ask the question, have you ever changed the fuel filter?

Instructions say to drain the cannister, which is a good idea, then you can wipe out any gunk in there as well as the WIF sensor.

I could never get anything out of mine when I'd check at "every fill up" just like the manual says.
Gave up by the 3rd or 4th attempt.

Tried again when I changed the fuel filter the first time, and with the top opened up, or even cracked to release vaccum, it just pours out of there.

Can't remember which way the lever goes though, as it was 8K ago that I last changed the filter,
and my truck is sitting about a mile south of here.
(at work, truck is at light rail station)

If you really want to see it drain, unscrew the filter cap and on mine I flip it down and you will drain the entire filter.

I had the same problem on my 02...

Solution...

Bump the starter and get the LP going. Then open the drain valve. This will clean the drain tube. Then turn off the ignition.

NOTE!: The engine is NOT running when this is done. Only the lift pump will be humming!

Problem Solved!

Most of the drain levers have an arrow on them that shows which way is drain. It is kindof hard to see, but it is there.
