Ford Help, blown turbo

Hey folks, I sold my high miles Dodge and bought a low mile Ford. The truck is am 08 F550 with a 6.4. Pretty sure I blew a turbo as it started dumping oil out the tail pipe. Anyway, a shop quoted $2600-$3600 depending on which turbo. I decided to tow it home! So I've intended deleting the DPF and now I'll have to, wondering which programmer I should get, if I should upgrade or rebuild turbo, etc. Changing engines isn't really an option I tried the Ford truck forum but not a single reply so I figured I'd come back home and see if any here had some dark side in them as well. Any help is much appreciated!

Welcome to the website Sir!

On your truck, I would recommend either an "SCT or H&S" Programmer for
your truck. They have both been around a long time and are very reliable
units. You can contact our own Lary Ellis (Top) who runs the DTR Store here.
He will give you a good price on either unit.

Good luck Sir!

Thanks John, I appreciate the feed back, I'll check both of those units out. As well as what Top can do. I used to spend hours on this forum before I was married, feels like home

Also, both our members Pind and Hvytrkmech are both fairly familiar with the Powerstroke, they might be able to guide you on making sure the turbo is you only issue.

you'll have to pull and clean the air to air anyways so you can test it at the same time. clean your pipes you should be good to go. I used both an H&S and SCT at different times on my truck. both are very good. your DPF would have to have been destroyed before hand to have oil make it all the way through. at a minimum delete the egr and dpf asap to keep the powerstrokes happy.

Haha, yeah, I figured I'd hear about that!
I bought the truck from the state so I'd think the dpf was functional...
