exhuast manifold

I am going to replace my exhaust manifold on my 94 CTD. Is there any tricks or things I need to look out for when swapping out the old with the new 3pc from scheiddiesel??

Does the turbo have to come off?

Thanks....

Dave

The turbo bolts up to the exhaust manifold, so......

I put the ATS on my truck, perhaps they are similar enough that a few tips may help: When assembling the pieces, heat the "outers" and freeze the "inners", and assemble with anti-seize; Use the old manifold as a pattern (bolt one to the other), this gets the final configuration VERY close, so when you are actually putting in on the engine, it's a drop-in part....

Pretty much a nut and bolt job. Putting the manifold together might try your patience a little.

No, but it will be easier to do it with it out of there.

I don't know if the 24valves are different, but the one I did I had to freeze the outers and heat the center. Use anti-seize, we used the old manifold to line everything up too, but I had to use my 'adjusting tool' (hammer and a long block of wood ) to get it to line part of it up on the engine.

Start spraying PB blaster on it the night before you take it off.

I order mine direct from KROIL (in TN, I believe) by the gallon, also in spray cans for the service trucks. Price is pretty reasonable that way.

Ats

I took of my stock manifold today. Manifold is in excellent shape. No issues. so does the ATS manifold make a noticeable difference? And does the ATS manifold come pre drilled for a Pyro probe. And does it come with the complete gasket kit and bolts from scheiddiesel? Thanks.....

in and running

Had a little issues with bolting the unit in. But it works great. Smoothed out the power and spools the turbo quicker. Sound quiter too, if that possible with a 12 valve......
