Engine won't turn over

Just installed a new starter last week for same problem, seemed to work fine then today same old problem. When I turn the ignition switch everything seems to be fine, all the dash lights and gauges work but the engine will not even attempt to turn over. Batteries are nearly new and are fully charged. I changed the relay switches and that didn't help. Do I need a new ignition switch or can I check something else?

Here is a quick and dirty test. Turn your lights on and see what they do while turning the ignition switch. Or maybe just watch your dash lights and also the map light while turning the switch. If they dim a lot or even go out then that could indicate a bad contact in the battery circuit such as dirty or loose terminals or a bad ground. It could also indicate bad or undercharged batteries. Have you checked the output of the alternator lately? Perhaps the cause is low output which is not allowing the batteries to charge properly.

Check out the clutch safety switch, it may be bad or out of adjustment.
Jump across it and see if the problem goes away.

Turn the key on to RUN. Use a screw driver or something to cross over the solenoid and starter. If the starter is good it should start right up and you can start trouble shooting the circuit. If it cranks but doesn't fire, it's not getting fuel. If it doesn't do anything, your not getting juice from the battery. Wasthe starter a rebuild? My last one was arcing on the aluminum case by the gear, to the engine block. Nice little burn mark their. Every time I turned the key, it sucked the battery right down to nothing.

Check the power cable from the battery to the starter. Mine corodid any and broke, had to put a new end on it and it still didn't work. That was because I blew a fuse, the one under the hood. Just a couple of things to check out. Good luck

Turned out to be a loose connection on the ignition switch.
