Lately when I shift into drive or reverse my truck will die. If it don't die it will go into gear, rev and try to take off. Also when I turn the key to start, it sounds like its running so I let off the key and it will die then I try to restart and it will crank over numerous times before finally starting.
Both problems occur at any temps. After the trucks warmed up it seems to be a little worse.

Anyone have any ideas?

Check your fuel pressure to the VP44, if it is good, then I would guess the VP44 is out. You should be able to read a fuel system related trouble code when the injection pump fails, but sometimes they do not issue a code, but simply die.
