Engine Died
My engine just up and quit. Had 12 psi fuel pressure , then just stopped. I changed L.P. and got 13 psi at bago fitting on VP.but could not get to run. After several hours got fed up and towed to dealer, who replaced fuel filter and away it went!!!! If I had 13 psi after the filter why would a new filter just make the difference. Also after picking up the truck I noticed my Edge chip seems to dead. Could the chip have caused all my greaf? First time user, please help. 2002 Quad Cab ,AT,115 Km. Canada.
If you had pressure on the input side of the VP then all that was wrong was the injection pump had airlocked. The dealer likely changed the filter and then let it prime by taking it through a few prime cycles to flush the air out of the VP.
It is pretty difficult to determine if the Edge box was a problem. The box does not shut off the VP, but if the VP is on its last legs the box will pull the timing too far and let the fuel pressure bleed out the worn spot on the timing plate for the delivery valve. That will result in a no start condition. Then if the Edge is disconnected or the power lead cut, the VP will work for a while as it waits for the first really bad snowstorm to strand you!
