Emergency brake problem

Yesterday my e-brake let go. The cables all appear to be in good condition. When I step on the pedal, I hear a ting and no ratchet clicks like when it is working. Is this something I can fix or do I need a new pedal assembly? Thanks

It could be that one of the cables is broken inside the cable. Pull on the cable to see whether there is a break.

Set the e-brake and look down on the frame where the main cable splits into the 2 cables that feed the rear wheels, you will see which one is broken. Drivers side right under back of cab, outside of frame.
