droped the spring for my overflow valve.

I know I'm a Dumba$$. I had to open it up in order to remove it and when I did the spring droped . I have no idea where the spring went. I'm going to try the normal parts stores in the morning (doubt I'll have any luck). Can I temporarily put a differant spring in? I will hook up a presure gauge and make sure I am within specs. Any suggestions???

Overflow valves are not that expensive. I would just replace it.

I am sure that you could find a new spring. Probably take some time hunting around though.

Since the spring is the part that mostly goes out on the OF valve many people have tried to source a replacement spring with no luck. The dimensions are easy to come up with but the "springiness" is near impossible.
Don't fool around with a hardware store spring as it will likely send your fuel pressure sky high, I've seen 12 valve lift pumps put out in excess of 100psi.
High fuel pressure can instantly blow out internal seals in your injection pump ($$$), break fuel lines and split the fuel filter open. A fuel pressure gauge won't help you fast enough.
Some people think they are saving $35 by stretching the spring when all they are doing is begging for more expensive problems.

You won't find a better price than here

$35 + $7 shipping and handling.

If you took the top off in order to remove it for next time remember the recommended way to get it out on trucks where it's tight is to grind or file the cutout on the manifold where it hits.

try fishing a flexible magnet around the back side of the p-pump or get a mirror and check on top of the vacuum pump. It may have hung up there if that's when it fell out. This may make a good time to learn how to take your pump off to have it recalibrated before the dyno.

I Just need to get it running to go by a new one (no other wheels). The truck has already been down for a week and a half for other repairs. If it's down another day the wife will kill me. I'm going to hunt around some more for the original. Maybe I'll be able to find it now it's light out. I appreciate all your help guys. I'm not trying to be cheap or save money, just need the truck up and running.

Just a quick up date. I found the spring. Thanks again to all. I'm going to order a new one up anyway.

glad to hear you found it. Where was it hiding at? For the next time stuff a shop rag between the pump and the engine to catch it. Your's wasn't the first one to drop out.
