best way is to make a custom tool ... same size as square hole remaining.

take a cheap 1/2 drive extension, then grind down to just above 3/8 in extension size. make it an interference fit, than drive into plug.

then simply remove with 1/2 drive handle.

no way I'd use a torch on bottom of 12quarts of oil.

I got mine out by placing screw jack under a breakerbar and jacking it up so the bar couldn't cam out. Be sure you are pulling the right way and good luck.

I would use the JB weld method for the simple fact that beating on or applying too much pressure/heat to the bottom of the pan could cause it to crack as these pans have been known to do. You dont want to mess with the headache of having to replace it. If the JB weld doesnt work then maybe use a mig on real low heat to tack an extension to it and try to twist it off that way. I had the similar problem starting to happen and I ordered the quick drain from Geno's. No second half to mine though, just fllip the lever and it drains then flip it back to close it.

Be VERY careful welding. Remove the oil filler cap. I saw a mechanic blow the breather off of a small block chevy while brazing on the oil pan. That thing came off like a bullet. Sounded like it too. The breather ricocheted off the ceiling. Lucky nobody got it up side the head.

yep a 18" pipe wrench will do it! I use large water pump pliers for oil filter removal too.seems to me these trucks have plenty of oil.my old 6.2 and 6.5 s took half the amount at change time.Of course they had no power and were real clattery.Bill
