Unhappy Dead Petal & No Fuel Pressure In AZ!

Think I'm losing another Injector Pump. But the symptoms are not the same as the first time. “Nothing but white smoke and a whole lot of dead petal.” In this case I’ve had some dead petal and a few puffs white smoke for a couple months now. A Friend suggested take the EZ off and see if it helps, so I did. It helped W/the white smoke but the dead petal was still occurring. When the truck sits for an hour or two it has dead petal for a few minutes and then it seams to run alright, at times the dead petal will kick in at cruising speeds, while on cruse control and when accelerating. Fuel Pressure was holding at 13-15psi up until about 2 weeks ago when I notice it drop to 10-8, last week 6-4, now reading 0. Checked FPG hook up and it looks fine. Any suggestions? If it is the IP I’ll need to get one soon. Trucks the only source of transportation and need it for desperately for work. I'm located in Arizona and looking for a good reliable shop to have the work done in. Or this Farm boy can do it himself w/a little guided assistance. I have a break in work for the next few days so time is of the essence. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'll check back on the thread ASAP! Thanks, <BUCK> >

If you have "0" fuel pressure, I would think lift pump or line problem. If your fuel pump goes to "0", it doesn't take long for it to take the VP44 with it. The lift pump is not hard to change, but I've never changed a VP44.

There are a few DTR members in AZ. Check out this site and maybe you can contact another member about a shop.

Arizona is a fairly large place. Where are you at?

Cool

With the FASS equipped it by-passes the lift pump. I’m located in Tempe for the time being. Ran the codes on truck, got an ECU 216, injection pump code. Heck of a deal. Called around found a shop, found A2Z Diesel in Mesa scheduled for work on tomorrow morning. Hope all goes well. I’ll Post what the outcome is. Thanks for the suggestions and comments. <BUCK>
