Cruise Control Problems
Cruise Control Problems
When I set the cruise control there are now two problems;
1) When the temperature is cold outside when I hit the coast button the truck simply accelerates until it reaches 80-85 MPH and then sets itself. This only happens the first couple times that I try to set the cruise then it seems to work fine.

2) While the cruise is set there is a sputtering that can be heard from under the hood. If I press the accelerator pedal very slightly, not accelerating but just tapping it, then this noise goes away.

Does anyone have any ideas?? Could these both be caused by an air leak in the cruise control system??

Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike
Re:Cruise Control Problems
This sounds like the old problem that should have been fixed in a recall some time back where the vacuum pump pushes oil down the cruise control vacuum line.

Pull the vacuum line and look for oil in the line. A Q-tip run down the hole and then inspected will tell you if you have oil.

If you do, call your Dealer and provide them with your VIN and have them check to see the vacuum pump fix was made.
Re:Cruise Control Problems
I have been haunted by this problem since I bought the truck in 1997, 2500 standard. The dealer has replaced the servo twice each time it would work for a while until the lines got foll of oil. The truck finally went out ouf warrenty. They know of no recall? Thanks for the info I guess I can fix it myself. Was there a recall??

Thanks John
