Truck wont start / fuel related
ok so the truck was running then just died, towed it home, come to find out it tripped a hole slew of codes, fixed some of them as they were already known, but the one that i cant seem to fix is: P0253 which comes back as a fuel pump issue, took the inlet line off the fuel filter and cranked the truck for a second and nothing came out, telling me its between the tank and the inlet line. how can i see if the fuel pump went bad?
edit: doh i guess i should have said, its a 99 2500 deisel. 24valve..

Re:Truck wont start / fuel related
You can pretty much assume the lift pump is gone. For grins, try it like you are going to start, but do not start. Listen to the lift pump, if it is running crack the fuel line. If you have no pressure, it is likely the built-in bypass is stuck open. If it is not running, it is likely it is toasted. Either way, see Cummins for a new pump.
Re:Truck wont start / fuel related
Just got that one myself, but my truck still runs.<br>From my thread about this:<br>
<br><br>Perhaps you could reseat the connectors to the injector pump?<br><br>Chris<br>
<br>Nothing worked so I went to my buddy with the Scan tool. He found a 0253 code in there and cleared it out for me.<br>The code is "Fuel Injection Pump Fuel Valve Open Circuit". He printed the stuff about it for me. Possible causes include defective fuel injection pump, defective starter , defective battery , defective fuel injection pump relay, defective connectors, or defective wiring.<br>
