Cracked fuel hard line

Well I have been wondering why my truck has been acting funny. Is it possible to solder(sp)? the crack or should I park the truck and get a new line?

Thanks

Is this one of the high pressure lines? If so, no way will it hold the pressure. If it's one of the supply lines to the pump, you could try soldering or brazing with no danger (assuming you pull the line off the truck and clean it out good before you apply the torch).

I had a cracked high pressure line this summer. They are expensive!! Make sure you get it from Cummins though because Dodge is twice as much.

I found that some of the clamps that hold the lines together in bunches were missing on my truck. I think the added vibration probably led to the crack. Mine cracked right near the injection pump. Dripped/sprayed fuel all over the place and made that cylinder miss.

AS allready stated. You need to replace it. No way you can repair it, that is big time pressure.

For emergentcys only you cold silver solder it but your likley to cause more problums by introducing blockage and damage solder getting into fuel , flux, also when you heat up the line you will cook off stuff from the metal, besides if you have crack you probubly have metal fatitge and will have more crack later.

Thanks for the replys, looked like I jumped the gun on this one. I couldn't exactly see where the line was leaking (the one going into the pump) and I only could see the hardline but it ended up being just a cracked softline(the one running behind the filter to the pump). This thing still was a pain to remove. I wish my arms where a little smaller

Whenever one of these cracked return lines has come in I just replace it with hose.
A lot easier and cheaper.
