code 1693 & 1689

code 1693 & 1689
i pulled the codes and i came up with 1693 and 1689.
P1689
No Communication Between ECM & Injection Pump Module
P1693
DTC Detected In ECM Or PCM
what does this mean? are these the right explanations for these codes
i have a 98.5 24valve with 4" exhaust and a bullydog box. the box is rated at 65 hp and 170 torque.
the codes first came up one morning when after i started it and it hickuped like it starved for fuel for a second. but then after that it ran just fine. the light stay on for a while then randomly turns off. then they turn on again at a later point.
any help?

been there done that
i will tell u what i did when i had nocomm betwen the ecm and the ip. disconnect the harness from the ip and the ecm and spray the **** out of them with a good grade of electrical contact cleaner. hope it helps
