I was driving to work engine cut off . cranks but will not start checked the trouble codes and it had 1688 internal fuel inj pump contrller failure. what do I do to fix this ? please help. Is the lift pump bad or is it the injector pump or both ? Or is there some controller thats bad? I had no previous warning to this happening.

 

You install a new injection pump. Being you have an 01 you might still be under warranty (5yr/100,000)

 

Do you have a fuel pressure guage in the cab? Not saying the guage would have prevented this situation but it can save you big $$'s.

If you dont have a FP guage, it would be advisable to spend some time reading the 24V second gen forums.
