Clutch problems

Whats wrong with my truck. I have a 1998 Dodge diesel with 120k miles on it.
I was recently pulling a load and when I satrted slowing down and removed the gear from 5 to forth to down shift. It would not shift into 4th gear anymore or any other gear for that matter. I pumped it a little and got it into 2 and it worked fine all the way home. Now from a stop position and the clutch pressed you cannot put it into gear with the truck running. If the truck is off and you put it in 2nd gear the truck drives and shifts fine. Could my master and slave units be weak.

I would suspect the fifth gear shaft nut popped off! This is a common problem and is best fixed by having the fully splined aftermarket shaft installed.

My truck shifts fine. If that was the problem it would not shift into gear. I can start from 1st or 2nd with the motor off and my truck drives fine.
